Rulindo Launches Holiday Program for Children and Youth.
Rulindo District has launched a school holiday program aimed at keeping children and young people engaged in constructive activities, protecting them from harmful influences, and instilling Rwandan cultural values during the school break
The district-wide initiative was officially launched in Kinihira Sector by the Mayor of Rulindo District, Judith Mukanyirigira, accompanied by the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, Théophile Mutaganda, and representatives of the security organs.
During the launch, district leaders joined children and young people in a variety of sports and recreational activities designed to encourage social interaction while helping participants make productive use of their holiday time.
The event also featured educational sessions focusing on character development and responsible citizenship. Participants learned about Rwanda's history, the country's cultural values, and the objectives of the holiday program, which seeks to protect children and youth from behaviors and activities that could threaten their well-being.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Judith Mukanyirigira emphasized that the initiative was established to safeguard the health, safety, and overall development of children and young people during the school holidays.
She urged parents to remain actively involved in their children's upbringing and encouraged them to support their participation in the program. The mayor also expressed appreciation to trainers and development partners for their commitment to ensuring the initiative's success.
Mukanyirigira announced that program activities will be held three times a week and organized according to participants' age groups. The sessions will combine learning, sports, and recreational activities to promote children's growth and development.
The School Holiday Initiative will be implemented across all sectors of Rulindo District. It aims to promote positive parenting and character development, strengthen patriotism and Rwandan cultural values, and protect children and youth from risks they may face during the holiday period.
