Members of Executive Committee Join Residents in Community Meetings for Health Insurance and Prevention of Rift Valley Fever (RVF) Campaign
On Tuesday, members of the District Executive Committee, accompanied by security organ, engaged residents in a community meetings across several cells with low participation in the Community-Based Health Insurance (Mutuelle de Santé) scheme.
The District Mayor Mukanyirigira Judith met with residents of Mushari Cell in Mbogo Sector, while Vice Mayor for Economic Development Rugerinyange Theoneste joined citizens in Rurenge Cell. Vice Mayor for Social Affairs Mutaganda Theophile led a similar meeting in Marembo Cell, Cyungo Sector.
The meetings focused on encouraging residents to pay their health insurance contributions on time, highlighting the critical role of the scheme in ensuring access to affordable healthcare services for all citizens. Leaders called on households to increase their participation, in order to protect their families from unexpected medical expenses.
Residents were also sensitized on measures to prevent and control Rift Valley Fever (RVF). Officials urged community members, particularly livestock owners, to remain alert, comply with guidelines issued by veterinary and health authorities, and immediately report any animals showing symptoms of the disease.
Beyond health-related discussions, the meetings served as an important platform for dialogue between citizens and local leaders. Residents raised a range of concerns and shared suggestions on issues affecting their communities. Several matters were resolved during the meetings, while those requiring additional intervention were referred to the relevant authorities for timely action.
The district reaffirmed its commitment to citizen-centered governance, emphasizing that regular engagement with communities and responsive leadership are essential to promoting sustainable development and improving the welfare of all residents.
